Heisman 2

Posted: November 19, 2007 in College Football

I know that I am not alone in my frustrations with the Heisman award.  I read an article that was a pretty good summary of my feelings with some concrete proof of the absurdity of using the upperclassmen rule for judging a  winner.

Here is the link.

  1. Daisy says:

Anthony, I think the Heisman is a lot like the BCS. The really deserving person or team doesn’t always get put on top. It seems to me nothing more than a popularity contest.

  2. agratto says:

That’s true. It is also why the BCS is so lame. Almost every team is better at the end of the season, but they are still haunted by what they did in week 2 or 3. I would just like them to award the best player with the best stats for his accomplishments and not worry about his age.

  3. Tebow deserves it. Dmac deserves it. I’ll be happy as long as it is one of those 2.

  4. Josh Earwood says:

Not sure about the Heisman, but I’d give my vote to Tebow for the Cries-man award. Does that guy have to cry every time he loses?

Seriously though, he has a good claim, but I think McFadden and whats-his-name from Missouri have a good argument too. Really Dennis Dixon should win because when he was playing, Oregon was a NC contender, since he got hurt they can’t score against anybody. If you can make a terrible team really good, you must be good.
