Cheering for the wrong team…

I don’t know if you have ever been in a position where you were unsure who to cheer for. Maybe you watched a movie and kinda wanted the bad guy to get away and not go to jail. Maybe you cheered against your buddies football team to make you feel better about your team not doing well. Maybe you wanted to see some Pastor or Leader get fired, because you know “how they really are.”

It really is more then likely for the good guy not to win. Many people are confused about God, because they see evil prevail or dishonest people do better then people with integrity.  My brother for instance is doing a great job putting together Kroger stores in Louisville, Kentucky, but his boss is getting all the glory and is shielded from all the blame.  Most of this is because Dominic takes the fall when his boss gives out bad information and hogs all the accolades when Dominic does something well.

My rule for most of these situations is let God sort it out.  We really can’t do anything about most of the situations we hate to see happen.  You can’t just pray for your boss to get fired and then skip trying to make the best of the situation.  The jerk you work with isn’t going to just quit, because you don’t like them.  My point isn’t to skip praying or put on some rose colored glasses, but to deal with it.

My least favorite team in America (Tennessee) is playing in the SEC Championship, because they had a lot of things just work out this year.  They aren’t evil, but I don’t want them to win.  Last year everything had to go well for Florida to get them to the National Championship and then to beat the No. 1 team in the country.

God is pretty clear that all mankind are His children and that He sent Jesus to die for everyone…even if they were going to ignore grace and mercy.  He also says that He causes the rain to fall on the righteous and unrighteous.  In other words He is blessing people the same, because judgment day is coming.

No matter who you cheer for, what you would like to see happen to your boss, or how bad things are going despite the fact that you are living right, God will make it all make sense in eternity.  Not a happy ending, but realistic.

I feel your pain…FL beat the pants off TN, now TN is playing for the SEC title. How about TN? They beat the pants off GA, & now GA is # 4…? & poised to play in a BCS bowl, when they never played a top ten team all season, & couldn’t even qualify for their conference championship…??? At least FL played 1 top ten team & lost (LSU) TN played 2 top ten teams & lost both (Cal & FL) But God rains on the righteous & the bulldogs just the same…
