Quit Dreaming?

I read a great verse the other day that caused me to have some interesting thoughts about hard working and dreaming about the future.

Proverbs 12:11 “He who works his land will have abundant food, but he who chases fantasies lacks judgment.”

I know that there are plenty of people that dreamed about a great job and then worked hard to make it happen. I am sure that a lot of little boys who dreamed about playing in the NFL made it, because it was a goal. Some things don’t happen just because you work hard they happen because you are fanatical about them.

I guess the lesson is two-fold…

  • Don’t waste your time dreaming about being an NBA star as a 5 foot 7 inch white boy who can’t jump…it ain’t gonna happen.
  • If you are going to dream, follow it up with a little hard work. You can’t expect to become a great preacher when you are semi-serious, you can’t start a business with $500, and you aren’t going to change the world just because you have a “heart” for missions.
