Joe T. Cartersville

Posted: April 24, 2008 in Church Leadership

We spent some serious time in our all-staff meeting doing an exercise that I believe will help us get to the next level.  We determined that our mission statement, “Moving people from where they are to where God wants them to be,” was important, but that we could possibly have an unhealthy focus on the later half of that statement.  In other words, we don’t realize where people are.

We have concluded that not everyone we need to and want to reach is far from God.  What works in a completely unchurch culture in Seattle won’t work in Cartersville.  We can do things that make people pay attention, but it might also keep some people from connecting. So, we have made it our focus that we need to determine what Joe T. Cartersville looks like to determine how to reach them.

Instead of sharing our list I thought I would let people in Cartersville, share what personality traits, likes/dislikes, wants, viewpoints, and backgrounds most people in Cartersville would say they have.  In other words what our culture here in Bartow County?

If you don’t live here and you want to comment, go for it!  If you are a church leader try the same exercise…you may begin reaching more people then you thought possible.
